Yuri had a far less jolt into consciousness. He pulls in a sharp breath, eyes opening with a snap. His face is wet, hair loose from its ponytail from his thrashing in bed. It takes him a moment to reorient himself to the room around him. Potya was bumping her head against his shoulder gently.
Seeing Vanitas coming over was a bit.. ... startling. He reaches up, wiping his face quickly with the sheet before pushing his hair back into order.
"H-hey.. You having nightmares again too?"
Potya's ears went back because she didn't like how Yuri was trying to shrug it off. She turns instead to pad to the edge of the bed, leaning her head up for Vanitas.
"Yeah, your nightmares," Vanitas said without hesitation, briefly rubbing Potya's ears before he's sitting on the edge of the bed. There's a frown on his face but it's..it's a worried frown, Vanitas looking Yuri over for any signs of anything. Distress. Pain.
Just..anything.
"Are you alright? Who the hell--why was that guy doing that to your grandfather?"
Yuri's face already was a bit red but it became worse. He pulls his knees closer, arms resting over them so he can rest his cheek against them to look away from Vanitas. He couldn't show that it affected him... Vanitas would make fun of him for it.
"I"m fine.. Its.. It's just a stupid a dream, he wouldn't actually do that to my grandpa. He's.. .. He's nice, he's that guy I told you about, the one who messed up.."
He sits his head up, pushing his loosed hair out of his face, still avoiding looking at Vanitas.
"None of that would... actually happen..."
Besides his grandfather.. Logically, the man would... He... would be ... well he couldn't exactly work any more...
The tears welled up and Yuri presses the heel of his hand against his forehead. He had no idea if his grandfather was even okay right now.
"Katsuki wouldn't do that... He wouldn't, its just a stupid dream and my grandpa will be fine"
"It's not just a stupid dream," Vanitas countered, shaking his head as he started to reach out only to hesitate. He wasn't good at this. Comforting people.
But Yuri was...he wanted to help the other. Which was weird and Gods he didn't know how to feel about it but he just knew that he didn't like seeing Yuri like this. He hadn't liked what that dream made him feel.
So he reaches out and rests a hand on the other's shoulder before smoothing it over his back in a somewhat gentle if not hesitant motion.
"...It was a pretty shitty dream so it's..it's alright to be upset." It comes out in a whisper, Vanitas clearly feeling stupid for saying stuff like that but he wanted Yuri to understand that it was..it was okay.
It was obvious that Vanitas wasn't comfortable with this. Yuri wants to shrug the hand off and just tell him to stop but then Vanitas would probably not want to try and reach out again. Ugh but also this was awkward.
He shied away without meaning to in the end, pulling his legs closer and turning his head further away. It was just a dream. He needed to not act so dramatic about a stupid dream...
"It's stupid. You know its stupid. You should be telling me that more than anyone."
He almost wanted Vanitas to be mean about it. But..
It's enough to get Vanitas to draw back, figuring he'd made things awkward by attempting to comfort the other...his friend. But he at least stays on the bed rather than getting up and moving away completely.
"Dreams are stupid. Nightmares can be cruel," Vanitas murmured, well aware of the difference between them. Honestly he was use to be the one causing nightmares in a way so experiencing them along side someone else was new to him; experiencing them at all was new.
"I don't know. It probably has something to do with those stupid elephant nosed bastards."
Yuri was silent for a few moments. He just needed to collect his thoughts together. Bad dreams made him sick to his stomach and his head was fuzzy. At least there was someone here and he even experienced the same thing. That was nice at least, to not feel alone though he didn't want Vanitas to be having a bad night too.
He chooses to lean in towards his friend, resting his head against Vanitas's shoulder.
"Nothing beats an image of 'elephant nosed bastards' I guess..."
"Good luck with that.. I heard some dumb asshole's bird messed up its face trying to attack one.. they just vanish really fast. Or get hypnotized. Maybe they'll just get bored and leave us alone eventually."
It was nice having a solid presence next to him but he wasn't going to admit that out loud. He worked hard at cultivating this don't need anyone image.
"Well if you're having trouble sleeping you should just stay over here in my bed."

"Next time I see one, I'm sicking Scrapper on it," he muttered before letting out a sigh. "Hopefully this stops soon. It's getting really annoying."
And frustrating. He had no idea how to deal with this. Any of it.
