..It's a really long story. Are you sure you're up for this? I'm not going to leave out any of the dark details either.

[There's a long pause before he starts talking, his voice softer now; thoughtful.]

Master Xehanort was Ventus's original master. He was attempting to train him and use him to open Kingdom Hearts but Ventus was too good. He had too much light in him. So he ended up pulling me out of him, forging me from the darkness that was inside Ventus. It left him..broken. So broken that Master Xehanort ended up leaving him with Master Eraqus, who had been training Terra and Aqua. It's because of them that Ventus was able to recover and learn to wield a keyblade.

As for me..I was trained and taught that my only purpose was to get strong enough to merge with Ventus again and forge the X-Blade. So that's what I did. I trained and tried to do everything he told me to do.

I didn't think you could do that to someone - split the darkness and the light like that.

But what was training like with him, Vanitas?

Yeah well, he could. And he did it pretty easily, too.

..It was training. He taught me what I needed to know; made me learn it all as quickly as possible. I had to be the best.

Did he tell you right from the start what his plan was?

Yes and no. I knew what I was and he mentioned the X-Blade a lot. I figured out most of it before he finally told me everything.

I guess it was. I didn't really know any better than to just do what he said. He promised me what I wanted and that's all that mattered.
