So yeah, maybe you should explain and then maybe I'll talk.

Before I got here, my best friend and I were taking the Mark of Mastery test. A lot of the worlds had fallen into darkness and even after we restored them, they wouldn't wake up. So for our test we had to dive into the dreaming world and wake them back up.

That's where I first saw you. I didn't bring it up when we met here because I didn't know what to think about it. Back then I thought it was just some trick that Xehanort was putting into the dream I was in.

Now I'm not so sure?

[For a long moment, there's no reply; just static. Because none of that makes any sense. How could Sora have seen him?

Finally, he does reply and there's something almost contemplative about his voice.]

...Xehanort was my master. I can't really tell you much about what might have happened after I faded but he might have been able to keep part of me alive--or real. Whatever. I don't know why he'd show you who I was, I don't have any clue what his logic is in that. But that's my best guess.

It was a younger Xehanort. He knows how to travel through time...

[ it's possible, but like Vanitas says: there's no reasons as to why he'd do that in the first place. ]

But you're not the only person I saw that I didn't know who they were. They looked older than me and my heart ached for them even though...

Braig said that they didn't do anything like that. They didn't add anything. Again, I didn't believe him then because why should I? He's half Xehanort. But now I see you and I just don't know.

Were there three of them? One girl and two boys? Blue hair, brown hair and blonde hair?

[None of this made any sense to him.]

Braig was there? He's still alive?

O-one thing at a time, okay? Yeah, Braig's still alive. The first time I met him he was Xigbar, a Nobody. When I defeated him, he became whole again. Didn't know that would happen.

[ though Vantias doesn't see it, Sora rubs at his neck. the other part. ]

Who I saw. It was one girl and one boy. Blue hair. Brown hair. Blue eyes. There wasn't any blonde guy there, but they were calling me by a name I didn't recognize.

Ventus. Were they calling you Ventus?

[But that didn't make sense. Sora didn't look anything like Ventus so how could they mistake them for one another? Maybe it hadn't actually been any of them and Sora had just..dreamed them up or something?]

What do you mean by a nobody? I've never heard of that before.

and Sora doesn't know what to make of all of this but he has a FEELING that Vanitas here is directly related to that. that maybe they can figure it out. ]

When someone with a strong will loses their heart, some times the body doesn't give up. It starts to move with a will and mind of it's own. They remember who they were before they lost their heart, but they don't actually feel. That's a Nobody.

Ven. That's what they always called him.

[He goes quiet again as Sora explains what nobodies are, mulling that over and finding it rather familiar, in a way, even though he knows that he wasn't created in the same way.

He can at least understand the idea of what a nobody is though.]

And these Nobodies..you can restore them by returning their hearts to them? It's just as easy as that?

I was kind of afraid you'd say that, but I need to know.

[ now Vanitas knows why Sora really wants to know what happened. is there a reason that these people would show up like they did? ]

If the Nobody and the Heartless are defeated, they will become one again. Or, given enough time, the Nobody will become whole on their own. A heart will form on it's own. They're never lost forever.

So you're..connected to Ventus somehow. Is that what you're thinking?

[Because that's what he's getting out of this. If Aqua and Terra called him Ven that had to mean something. And he didn't like what it meant.]

Heartless...I don't know what those are either. I know what the Unversed are but I've never heard of the Heartless.

And how can a heart just form on it's own? A heart just doesn't come out of nowhere.

Maybe. It'd make sense, wouldn't it? We have to look alike for a reason.

A heart is our memories and how we feel about them. You can't go through life experiencing things and not having some kind of feeling attached to it. So it doesn't come out of nowhere, no. It just grows and blooms.

I guess...but I have no idea what that reason is. Everything that happened with Ventus and I--with the others...that was before you got your keyblade, wasn't it?

[So how could they be connected? And Ventus had...and he had...]

So you're saying that anything has the potential to form a real heart with time?

Nope. But neither do you. Stranger things have happened.

[ shrug! ]

But I think so. How do you think the heart of a world forms?

I have no idea. I never stopped to consider it. I was usually too busy trying to take them.

A world isn't exactly a living, breathing thing now is it? But it still has a heart of its own. The people that live there obviously have feelings about their home, right?
